Three objectives covering vocabulary development (tiered vocabulary, context clues, morphemic analysis), comprehension of literary and informational texts (text structures, main idea vs. theme, inferential comprehension), and comprehension strategies (reciprocal teaching, think-alouds, graphic organizers).

Subarea III: Reading Assessment and Instruction (18%)

Two objectives on assessment types (screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, summative) and instructional integration (differentiation, ELL accommodations, tiered intervention models).

Subareas IV and V: Open-Response Assignments (20% total)

Two written assignments. Subarea IV focuses on foundational reading skills — you'll analyze student data and recommend instructional strategies. Subarea V does the same for reading comprehension. Both require evidence-based reasoning and specific strategy recommendations.
